The winding up session for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) in the Dewan Rakyat began at 2.30 pm led by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.
Five other Cabinet ministers, including International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, will take part in the winding up motion.
The motion for debate on and adoption of the TPPA began yesterday in a special sitting of the Dewan Rakyat.
Voting by the 222 members of parliament on Malaysia’s participation in the international trade treaty is expected after the winding up session.
The motion will be tabled in the Dewan Negara tomorrow for debate by senators.
Malaysia is one of 12 countries which negotiated the TPPA besides Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States and Vietnam.(Bernama)
