ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 9, 2013) – A mother had died trying to save her son who fell in a deep well outside their house in Zamboanga city in southern Philippines, police said on Sunday.
It said the woman, Flordesie Lantaka, 47, also fell in the well in Ayala village while frantically trying to save her nine-year old son Mark Lantaka from a certain death.
Her husband, Antonio, 47, who was told about the accident, tried to save the duo, but he too fell into the well.
Neighbors eventually rescued the man and his boy and rushed the duo to the hospital. The woman died of suffocation, police said.
It was not immediately known whether the father and son were told about the fate of Flordesie. (Mindanao Examiner)
