
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 8, 2013) – Motorcycle gunmen shot a woman in an attack late Monday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.
Police said the assailants escaped after the shooting. “We are still investigating this (case),” one policeman told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
The identity of the woman was not immediately known, but other reports said she works at a local foreign exchange and was heading home when shot along Governor Alvarez street.
Police said the woman was shot in the neck and the bullet also hit a nearby beauty salon. The victim was rushed to hospital and her condition is unknown.
Gun attacks and killings perpetrated by hired killers are common occurrence in Zamboanga City and many of the cases remain unsolved. (Mindanao Examiner)
