Woman shot in Zamboanga City dies

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 9, 2013) – Police in Zamboanga City said a woman who was shot by motorcycle gunmen had died from her injuries.

Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, a regional police spokesman, the woman, Jocelyn Lo Franca, 27, was shot twice in the chin and back and one of the bullets also hit a nearby beauty salon.

He said the woman was a teller at a local foreign exchange and was heading home when shot along Governor Alvarez Street late Monday.

Huesca said the victim was rushed to hospital but died while undergoing operation. He said one witness saw the gunman picked up the bag of Franca and then shot her again in the back before escaping.

Gun attacks and killings perpetrated by hired killers are common occurrence in Zamboanga City and many of the cases remain unsolved. (Mindanao Examiner)
