CEBU – Police are preparing criminal charges against a 26-year old woman who stole an infant from a hospital in Cebu City.
Melissa Londres was arrested this week after police tracked her down after her daring escape with the baby from the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Londres was disguised as a nurse to be able to steal the infant from her mother at the hospital ward. Londres told police investigators that she wanted the baby for her own, but apologized to the infant’s mother, saying she did it because she and her boyfriend wanted to have a child.
It was not immediately known whether the woman’s boyfriend took part in the crime, but police said the man was with Londres at the time of her arrest. It was unclear whether the hospital would be sanctioned or penalized for what had happened. (Cebu Examiner)
