PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 6, 2014) – Police said a 23-year old man who tried to rape a widow thrice his age surrendered after his victim complained to authorities in southern Philippines.
Police said the sexagenarian woman was able to scream for help when his neighbor Ramil Ondong broke into her house in the village of Balongating in Guipos town and tried to abuse her.
She said the man destroyed her kitchen’s roof in order to gain entry into the house and then forcibly opened her room where she and her grandson were sleeping.
Her scream for help alerted other members of her family and neighbors and Ondong escaped, but surrendered later after his family convinced him to give up because police were searching for him.
Police said Ondong has been detained in the town while charges are being prepared against him. (Mindanao Examiner)
