ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Sept. 8, 2013) – A policeman was killed in an ambush by motorcycle gunmen in the town of Siay in Zamboanga Sibugay province, officials said Sunday.
Officials said PO3 Paterno Alivar, assigned with the municipal police force, was heading home on his motorcycle when the gunmen attacked him in the village of Balucanan.
Alivar just came from a retirement party at the police station.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the killing and police are still investigating the attack.
It was not immediately known whether the killing was carried out by rebels or has something to do with his job. (Mindanao Examiner)
