ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 9, 2012) – The Philippine police has relieved a senior police officer, whose name was included in a “blue book” recovered by police forces in the house of another policeman linked to a local drug syndicate in Zamboanga City, officials said.
Chief Superintendent Mario Yanga, the acting city police director, said his deputy chief for operation, Superintendent Hado Edding, is being investigated after his name was included, along with other policemen, in the blue book.
“We are not saying that he is in cahoots with the drug syndicate, but he was relieved and is being investigated by the police,” Yanga said.
Edding said his relief came as a surprise. “I don’t even know why I was relieved. My name is clean and I am retiring soon from the police service and I don’t want name tainted,” he said.
Policemen are also hunting down the owner of the blue book, which was recovered during an anti-drug operation in Recodo, a seaside village notorious for its gambling and drug problem. (Mindanao Examiner)
