PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / June 9, 2012) – Police announced that it had killed a notorious gang leader blamed for the string of criminalities in Zamboanga del Sur province.
Senior Superintendent William Mananzan, the provincial police chief, said Totong Angeles was killed in a fire fight this week in the town of Dinas.
He said security forces tracked down Angeles in a hideout in the village of Benuatan, but instead of surrendering the gang leader engaged state forces in a fire fight. His followers escaped during the fighting and are being hunted down by the police.
Angeles had a P100,000 bounty on his head. (Mindanao Examiner)
