ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 4, 2012) – Two children were killed and another injured after a portion of a seawall in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines collapsed, police said on Wednesday.
It said the tragedy occurred on Tuesday in the coastal village of Ayala while the children whose ages were 5, 6 and 8 were playing.
Local village leaders blamed the collapse of the seawall to erosion and days of rains in Zamboanga. Other said the quarrying of sand was to be blamed for the collapse. (Mindanao Examiner)
