Zamboanga City Government News Bits – April 17, 2015 

  • Mayor Beng Climaco led the grand opening of Summer Fest 2015 Friday afternoon in front of City Hall that featured a full line-up of production numbers and presentations from local performers. A Zumba fitness activity capped the event.

 

  • The Department of Labor and Employment in coordination with the local government, Zambo Ecozone and other agencies will hold a Job Fair in Zamboanga City on May 1 where thousands of job placements locally and abroad will be made available. The job fair forms part of the 65 job fairs that DOLE will conduct simultaneously in the 16 regions.

 

  • Damage to agricultural and fishery products due to the prolonged dry spell had soared further to 10,270 hectares with an estimated cost of P140.816 million as of April 8. This, as the local government in coordination with the Zamboanga City Water District and the Bureau of Soil and Water Management of the Department of Agriculture are now finalizing arrangements for the conduct of cloud seeding operations in the city to mitigate effects of the dry spell.

 

  • The WASH Cluster together with the Zamboanga City Water District has launched a massive information campaign on water conservation in all transitory sites and one evacuation center in response to the water crisis besetting the city. For almost a month now, humanitarian agencies have initiated hygiene promotion sessions in all IDP sites. These will culminate on Monday, April 20, with the water conservation drive themed “Bawat Patak ng Tubig ay Mahalaga di Dapat ito Inaaksaya”. The day-long event which will have creative games will be attended by 350 participants with 20 representatives from each IDP site, partners from humanitarian and government communities and host barangays.
