Zamboanga City Government News Bits – April 22, 2015

  • Dia del Alcalde, an outreach mission offering a wide array of free services, visited the village of Lumbangan today serving hundreds of indigent families. Mayor Beng Climaco, who spearheaded the activity, also distributed cash assistance to 27 families displaced by the fire that hit the Lumbangan dumpsite area early this month. The cash aid amounts to P133,000.
  • Mayor Beng Climaco this afternoon distributed financial assistance to the 3 victims of the April 3 blast in Ayala. The assistance, amounting to P5,000 per victim was in addition to the medical assistance and hospitalization costs shouldered by the city government.
  • At least 17 stalls at the soon to open Integrated Bus Terminal in Divisoria are open for lease by any interested applicants. Of the total stalls available for lease, 1 is for coffee shop, 8 for “pasalubong” or souvenir items and 8 for food or eateries. Interested applicants may submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) addressed to the IBT committee or to the City Administrator.
  • Mayor Beng Climaco expresses gratitude to members of the business sector who have signified interest and willingness to be part of the proposed Interruptible Load Program (ILP). She said the voluntary move of the business sector to participate in the ILP is a way to reduce the number of power interruption hours in the city without putting additional burdens on other consumers. The ILP has the potential to cut down power interruptions to less than 4 hours by temporarily removing peak loaders from the grid.
  • The Early Recovery Cluster, headed by Mayor Beng Climaco convened today to discuss updates concerning recovery and rehabilitation efforts following the 2013 Zamboanga siege. Each cluster presented its interventions/ programs including issues and concerns. Among the pressing issues discussed were the proposed Code of Policies for the selection of Z3R beneficiaries, the transfer of IDPs to transitory sites and livelihood programs for IDPs among others.
