Zamboanga City Government News Bits March 17, 2015
- Mayor Beng Climaco on Monday afternoon dialogued with internally displaced persons staying at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex to tackle issues and concerns related to the move to transfer IDPs to transitory sites and eventually to permanent shelters.
- The Tricycle Adjudication Board headed by City Legal Officer Atty. Jesus Carbon advises the public to address all complaints against erring tricycle drivers to the TAB Office located at the 2nd floor of City Hall, telephone numbers 991-7294. Complainant has to present the plate number of the subject tricycle so the TAB can locate the unit, the driver and operator. On record, the TAB has penalized, revoked licenses and filed cases against erring tricycle drivers based on Ordinance 185. Penalties/fines resulting from violation of the ordinance totaled P920,200 in 2014 alone. The crackdown against erring drivers is continuous and is a coordinative effort between the TAB, traffic enforcers and police authorities. Public support is a must.
- Dia del Alcalde, an outreach mission aimed to bring government closer to the barangays served the residents of Latuan, approximately 52 kilometers east of the city. Mayor Climaco personally led the mission showcasing the city’s frontline services on health, veterinary, agriculture and civil registration. The mayor also took time to explore “seven door cave”, one of the caves in Latuan with various rock and mineral formations, to help in the promotion of eco-tourism sites in the barangays.
- The Local Inter-Agency Committee (LIAC) is set to convene March 18 at 2 p.m. at the City Hall conference room to discuss among others, the status of power as well as water supply in Z3R permanent housing projects, licenses/permits and sanitation requirements, request of Sta. Barbara IDPs to return to their residence which is part of Presidential Proclamation 69 and permanent housing assistance of CRS.
- The City Government preps up for the global observance of Earth Hour 2015, a 60-minute switch-off event to send a strong message to take action on global warming. The activity will start at 730pm, March 28 at Plaza del Pilar.
- Executive Order BC 101-2015 authorizes the temporary parking of vehicles at La Purisima and Nuñez Streets for the duration of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University commencement exercises on March 17 (7 a.m.-12 nn), March 18 (1 p.m.-7 p.m.), March 19 (1 p.m.-7 p.m.) and March 21 (12 nn-9 p.m). Specifically, areas covered are La Purisima Street from its junction with Gov. Alvarez to its junction with Campaner St. (Westside single parallel parking) and Nuñez St. with its junction with Gov. Alvarez to its junction with P. Rodriguez St.
