Zamboanga City Government News Bits March 26, 2015
- Mayor Beng Climaco has issued two executive orders to ensure the orderly and peaceful observance of the Holy Week in Zamboanga City:
- Executive Order 109-2015 ordering a temporary traffic re-routing scheme on roads leading to the Mayor Climaco Freedom Park, Pasonanca and declaring the said park as walk-in park for the duration of the observance of Holy Week. The order will take effect 6pm of April 1 to 6am of April 4, 2015.
- Executive Order 110-2015 imposing a prohibition on the bringing, sale and drinking of liquor/intoxicating drinks and bringing of firearms, bladed weapons and BACKPACKS and other similar items at the Mayor Cesar Climaco Freedom Park, Pasonanca from April 1-April 4, 2015 during the observance of Holy Week.
- Jerry Loresco, chief of the Bureau of Customs Investigation Division in Manila, takes over as acting Zamboanga District Customs Collector replacing Miguelfio Saquisame who has been reassigned to the main office. He called on Mayor Beng Climaco Thursday morning to introduce himself and to present his priority thrusts. The mayor, meanwhile, welcomed Loresco and expressed support to the latter’s plans and programs, such as the identification of a warehouse for smuggled items seized during operations.
- The P117-million appropriation which was contained in the 2015 Supplemental Budget Ordinance that the City Council approved on second readingTuesday (March 24), is not intended entirely for the purchase of security surveillance cameras or CCTVs. It represents the total cost of the city government’s Public Safety and Surveillance Project (PSSP), of which the purchase of Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras is only one of the components. The PSSP seeks to establish a world-class data center that is reliable, secure and scalable to be an intelligent citywide command center and includes a world class Incident Response Management System similar to the popular 911 call and dispatch system.
- The Protected Area and Ecotourism Management Board has passed a resolution regulating maritime navigation and the passage of watercrafts in between the Great and Little Sta. Cruz Islands. To ensure the protection of marine resources and overall security of the area, the resolution prohibits or regulates any vessels, either motorized or non-motorized vessels, to pass through the channel between the Great and Little Sta. Cruz Islands and in hazardous areas as determined by the Philippine Coast Guard.
- Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has proposed the creation of a security group to help protect the watershed area of Zamboanga City from intruders. In a meeting with the Zamboanga City Water District recently, the ZCPO recommended the organization of a Special Cafgu Active Auxiliary as one of the security measures to address threats to the city’s water system and supply.
