Mayor Beng Climaco motored to the island barangay of Manalipa on March 5 to spearhead Dia del Alcalde, rolling out free medical, dental and other services to some 400 residents in the area. Added services included distribution of books and eye glasses and free haircut by the Philippine Navy and Philippine Marines and other partner agencies.
The City Government is extending assistance to the families of 1Lt. Ferman James Magbanua and 1Lt. Emerson Somera, of the Alpha Company of the Philippine Army, who were killed in an Abu Sayyaf ambush in Patikul, Sulu February 25. Mayor Climaco expressed condolences to the families of the two soldiers who were part of the Army contingent that helped and defended Zamboanga City from the attackers during the September 2013 siege.
The City Veterinarian Office has set a series of mass vaccination of pets this month to highlight the observance of Rabies Awareness Month which kicked off today with a motorcade and a launching program at the Pasonanca Elementary School. The mass vaccinations will be held in various barangays as well as at the Veterinarian office in San Roque.
This week, the Camp Coordination and Camp Management Cluster, spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), conducts consultation per family in the grandstand for their settlement plans. Social preparation which includes go-and-see visits is being conducted. Today, at least 80 families from Grandstand Zone D went to Mampang transitory site for the go-and-see visit.
Mayor Beng Climaco reminds residents of the new security concept by Joint Task Group Zamboanga where combined forces from the police, marines and army will be undertaking patrols, checkpoints and other security measures in the city. The authorities are doing their best to augment security in the city and the residents are asked to cooperate and support the efforts.
