  • In celebration of Dia de las Mujeres on Monday, March 9, the section of Mayor Jaldon Street, from its junction in Mayor Ledesma Street, Mayor Climaco Avenue fronting the Bureau of Fire Protection and Valderosa Street up to Paseo del Mar, will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED FROM 6 a.m. TO 9 a.m. PARKING OF MOTORCYCLES and BRINGING OF BACKPACK are also PROHIBITED at Valderrosa Street up to Paseo del Mar from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday. Parking will only be allowed at Plaza Pilar. This is pursuant to Executive Order BC-100-2015 issued by Mayor Beng Climaco and is intended to facilitate the conduct of Women’s Day activities as well as to ensure security and public safety.

 

  • Baile de las Mujeres, a street parade from Ledesma Street to Paseo del Mar at 6.30 a.m. will highlight the celebration of Dia de las Mujeres. A program will follow at Paseo del Mar with Mayor Climaco keynoting the event. Other activities include free breast examination and pap smear at the Centro Latino lobby and the sale of products of RIC women entrepreneurs in different booths at the Paseo grounds. The activity will be a fund-raising campaign with proceeds intended for the psychiatric ward of the Zamboanga City Medical Center, women inmates of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and the Women Crisis Center.

 

  • City Hall reminds residents, particularly internally displaced persons temporarily residing in transitory sites not to fall prey to people who are recruiting members for a particular organization purportedly in exchange of financial support or assistance from the City Government. Per report, the organization/s are charging membership fees as much as P40 to P100 per recruit. Camp managers are advised to monitor such activities in the transitory sites and to immediately report the same to proper authorities.

 

  • Processing of beneficiaries for the Summer Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in the barangays and the City Social Welfare and Development Office-Public Employment Service Office will end on March 15 for the first batch and April 20 for the second batch. Implementation of the SPES first batch composing of 1,400 college students will be from April 10- May 8 while the second batch composing of 1,270 secondary students will be from May 5-May 31.
