  • The proposed signing of the Zamboanga-Davao sisterhood agreement is considered as a first step towards a shared progress and development of both cities, according to Mayor Beng Climaco, who recently led a delegation of city officials to Davao to lay the groundwork for the formal forging of the pact. The Davao visit also yielded positive results in terms of learning some of Davao’s best practices particularly in the operation of the 911 facility as well as on matters related to security and investments.
  • Registration and orientation for the Zamboanga Hip Hop Dance Competition is set at 1pm, Monday, April 13 at the PIO office, 2nd floor City Hall annex. The contest is part of the Summer Fest 2015 activities; elimination is set May 2 at Centro Latino and final competition is on May 8 at the City Coliseum.
  • The LIAC-created Technical Working Group will convene April 13, 14 and 15 at the Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar to finalize the Implementing Rules and Regulations on Awards, Arbitration and Beneficiary Selection for Z3R Permanent Housing Projects.
  • The Zamboanga Economic Zone and Freeport Authority and the Bureau of Fire Protection will formally enter into a memorandum of agreement for the transfer of the Talisayan Fire Station inside the Ecozone compound in San Ramon Monday, April 13 at 9am at the Palmeras Restaurant in Sta. Maria.
  • Homestyle Depot which specializes in general merchandise opens its doors in Zamboanga Sunday, April 12. It is conveniently located at Veterans Avenue.
  • The Asia Foundation has organized a 2-day Strategic Planning Workshop and Team Building for PIO-CWG student volunteers, April 11-12 at the Garden Orchid Hotel, as part of its continuing partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga. Funded by the USAID, Asia Foundation has been assisting the city in various programs for the welfare of not only the Internally Displaced Persons but the entire Zamboanga community.
