Zamboanga City News Bits April 7, 2015
- Dia del Alcalde, the City Government’s outreach program, visited Sitio Catumbal in Barangay Guisao today benefiting hundreds of indigent families from an array of services that included medical and dental consultations, free medicines, vaccinations and other veterinary services, civil registry support, and agricultural technologies and samples. These were offered for free by personnel from the various local government offices. Also accompanying the caravan were personnel from the Philippine Marines and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation who provided free haircuts and membership application and updating of data records, respectively.
- Mayor Beng Climaco today turned over P4.4 million worth of infrastructure projects – covered court costing P3.2 million in Barangay Talabaan and a P1.2 million Senior Citizens Center in Barangay Mercedes.
- The Human Development and Empowerment Services (HDES), a nongovernmental organization, today initiated a project orientation activity with partners and stakeholders related to the implementation of a UNICEF project dubbed “Strengthening Adolescents Health Program in ZC” with adolescents aged 15-19 from the transitory sites of Taluksangay, Tulungatung and Mampang as target beneficiaries.
- The City Government in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Mindanao Youth Development Program and Zamboanga-Basilan Integrated Development, Inc will hold the mass graduation of out-of-school youth who completed their skills training and alternative learning modules, April 8 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Centro Latino in Paseo del Mar.
- Orientation for the first batch of Special Program for Employment of Students’ beneficiaries comprising of 1,400 college students will be held April 8 (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the City Coliseum in Barangay Tetuan.
- Zamboanga City will join the nation in the 73rd Commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan and Observation of 2015 Philippine Veterans Week on Thursday, April 9 with the theme “Ipunla ang Kagitingan sa Kabataan, Ihanda ang Beterano ng Kinabukasan.” A program organized by the Philippine Veterans Veteration-Zamboanga City in partnership with the City Government is set at the Freedom Fighters’ Shrine in Rizal Street at 7 a.m.
- The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is finalizing its Closed Circuit Television project in all airports with commercial flights including the Zamboanga airport. The project is scheduled to be bid out in the first quarter of this year and entails among others the installation of cameras with facial recognition software, Rodante Joya, CAAP (OIC) Deputy Director General for Operations revealed through a letter to Mayor Beng Climaco.
