ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Nov. 8, 2012) – Filipino fire fighters rescued a woman and her daughter trapped in a room of a burning building in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, officials said on Thursday.
Officials said the woman was already hysterical when firemen rescued them at the 6th floor of Jose Go Huilo building – owned by Seferino Go – following a blaze at the 4th floor at around 9.50 p.m. on Wednesday.
“The woman was already hysterical when we rescued her, but both mother and child are okay,” Fire Marshal Superintendent Dominador Zabala, Jr. told the regional newspaper Mindanao Examiner.
He said the blaze started at the radio station Hot FM. The timely arrival of the firemen prevented the fire from spreading to other rooms in the 4th floor.
“Initial investigation pointed to faulty electrical wiring as the probable cause of the fire,” he said, adding the fire started from an electrical outlet near a sofa bed.
Zabala said the building is also being occupied by Koreans, Taiwanese and Chinese and Filipino tenants. (Mindanao Examiner)
