
ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Apr. 8, 2013) – Suspected guns-for-hire ambushed and wounded a pro-government militia and his daughter in a daring attack in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines despite dozens of police and military checkpoints.
The attackers both riding in tandem on a motorcycle, escaped after the shooting which occurred in the village of San Jose. Police said the gunmen shot Al-Sharif Kiram, who was driving his van with his two daughters and a maid.
Kiram was hit in the arm and one of his daughters in the hand. The others were unhurt in the attack.
It was not immediately known whether the attack was connected to Kiram’s work. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack, but the police was quick to say that the shooting was motivated by a personal grudge. (Mindanao Examiner)
