ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police have arrested a suspected drug dealer in a dangerous undercover operation Sunday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, officials said.
Insp. Dahlan Samuddin a regional police spokesman, said Abraham Askali was arrested with his wife, Catherine Lumundao, in the village of Upper Calarian. He said Askali is on top of the police drug list.
Samuddin said the operation was carefully mounted by the police following a long surveillance. He said the undercover agents managed to pull the operation successfully that led to the capture of Askali.
He said the marked money used in the drug sting was recovered, including a pack of suspected shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride weighing about 22.5 grams, and other drug paraphernalia.
“Both suspects are presently detained at said station for filing of appropriate charges in court,” Samuddin said.
Just recently, police here also arrested a former army soldier, Mark Joseph Bolivar, 27, in his house in Tugbungan village and seized suspected shabu and an improvised tooter, and a katana, a fragmentation grenade.
Bolivar deserted his unit, 5th Special Forces Battalion based in North Cotabato’s Pikit town, in 2014. (Mindanao Examiner)
