ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 31, 2013) – The local government of Zamboanga City is preparing for a regional peace and security summit tentatively set before the end of September.
The local mayor, Maria Isabelle Salazar, has proposed the summit during an inter-agency meeting in Zamboanga City attended by senior government and military officials led by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin.
The summit is expected to be participated by military and police commanders, local chief executives and other officials from western Mindanao, including the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi to discuss peace and security issues.
Ochoa, Gazmin and Interior Secretary Mar Roxas and other top government officials are also expected to attend the summit. (Mindanao Examiner)
