ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Army’s 1102nd “Ganarul” Infantry Brigade (1102Bde) received multiple category awards during the 11th Infantry Division’s (11ID) “Best-Best” Competition 2025 on Wednesday, demonstrating its excellence and professionalism.

The competition coincides with the 7th anniversary of the 11ID, also celebrated on Wednesday.
Among the major awards the 1102Bde received are the Best in Unit Administration, Best in Intelligence, and Best in Logistics Management.
Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, commander of the 1102Bde, praised the brigade’s achievement, highlighting that the awards reflect the teamwork, discipline, and commitment of all officers, enlisted personnel, and militiamen who uphold the Ganarul service.
Ganarul is a Tausug term that means “achiever.” It serves as the nickname of the 1102Bde, which operates in Sulu province.
“These awards belong to the entire Ganarul family. It is the result of our daily discipline, shared sacrifices, and dedication to protecting the people of Sulu,” Delos Santos said in a phone interview.
He said these recognitions confirm the brigade’s ongoing success in mission, staff excellence, and operational effectiveness despite complex security challenges in eastern Sulu.
According to the 11ID, the “Best-Best” Competition assessed unit performance using general staff inputs and inspection parameters, aligned with the criteria reflecting operations in Sulu and Basilan.
The 11ID noted that the 1102Bde’s performance in administration, intelligence, and logistics is vital for sustaining peace and stability in its area of operation. (PNA)
