
DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 16, 2012) – Communist rebels attacked a military patrol on Wednesday in Davao City in the southern Philippines and wounding at least 4 soldiers, the New People’s Army said.
It said rebel forces attacked the soldiers in the village called Paradise Embac in Paquibato district, a known NPA stronghold.
The rebel group, which is fighting for a separate Maoist state, warned of more attacks against government and military targets in Davao City and other areas in Mindanao as part of its renewed offensive.
There was no immediate state from the 10th Infantry Division which had deployed troops to fight the rebels in Davao . (Mindanao Examiner)
