
ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 9, 2014) – Police said motorcycle gunmen shot dead a trucker and wounded his six-year old nephew in attack in the town of Diplahan in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga Sibugay.
Police said the gunmen shot Michael Enriquez, 45, in his shop in the village of Santa Cruz. Enriquez was working on his truck when the attackers arrived and without warning opened fire on the victim with a machine pistol.
Enriquez’s nephew was also hit by a stray bullet as the gunmen attacked the victim, who died instantly from multiple wounds. The gunmen escaped in one motorcycle after the shooting.
The wounded child was rushed to Wilfredo Palma Memorial Hospital. Police said it recovered at least 9 bullet shells fired from a KG-9 machine pistol.
The motive of the attack is still unknown and police are investigating the shooting. (Mindanao Examiner)
