MAGUINDANAO – Armed men shot dead the vice mayor of Maguindanao’s Datu Saudi Ampatuan inside his house and fled after the daring attack.
The politician, Anwar Sindatuk, was shot several times by the gunmen – wearing uniform tiger stripe camouflage uniform similar to those used by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels – who went to his house. His family said the gunmen even sipped coffee before shooting Sindatuk.
Sindatuk was the top councilman in the town and assumed as vice mayor following the killing of Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom. The mayor’s wife, Anida, then the vice mayor, succeeded her husband, who was killed in an alleged shootout with policemen in North Cotabato’s Magpet town just recently.
No individual claimed responsibility for the murder. Sindatuk was immediately buried by his family. (Moh Saaduddin)
