PAGADIAN CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 16, 2013) – Two masked robbers barged in a store and fatally its owner in Pagadian City in the southern Philippine province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said Friday.
Police said the gunmen shot Chito Veran, 50, several times after he tried to fight off the robbers. Veran was with his wife, Naomi, when the gunmen barged in their store along Jamisola Extension in the village of Santa Lucia.
The robbers also held-up Veran’s brother-in-law, Albert Macabudbud, 53, a native of Pasig City who was just visiting the family.
The woman was unhurt from the heist, police said, adding Veran was rushed to the hospital after the robbers escaped, but the victim died along the way.
Police are still investigating the robbery and the identities of the gunmen. (Mindanao Examiner)
