Police arrest man who stabbed teener 36 times in Zamboanga City

Chief Editor March 19, 2018

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested Monday a man accused of repeatedly stabbing a 17-year old student during a robbery in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.

A police photo shows Franklin Eugenio.

Police said the 30-year old Franklin Eugenio has been arrested after neighbors told authorities that they saw the man – his shirt bloodied – arrived home shortly after he attacked the teenager who was just walking inside the cemetery.

The victim was stabbed at least 36 times, but she unbelievably survived the near-fatal attack over the weekend and managed to point to her aggressor after police investigators showed her a set of photos of men.

“She broke down upon seeing the picture of her attacker,” a police officer said after relating to journalists how they managed to tracked down and arrest Eugenio.

Policemen also seized 3 different knives from Eugenio, who remains silent even after he was positively identified by her victim. Eugenio, who appeared tense while being investigated by the police, did not utter a single word or admitted to the crime, but police said the victim’s family vowed to press charges against the suspect.

Police also urged other victims of Eugenio to come forward and give their testimonies and file charges against the man considered by authorities as dangerous to the community. (Mindanao Examiner)
