Nursery-museum sa Mount Apo muling inilunsad

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Matapos ng halos 7 taon ito ay maitayo sa tuktok ng Mount Apo, ipinakilala na ng Energy Development Corporation o EDC ang arboretum o nursery ng mga itinuturing na ‘critically endangered species’ ng mga punong kahoy na ‘endemic’ o makikita lamang sa Mount Apo.

Ang arboretum ay isa ring museum ng mga puno o living museum ng mga puno at bahagi ng BINHI program na isa sa mga environmental programs ng EDC.

Ginawa ang launching ng arboretum, alas-nuebe ng umaga, nitong Hulyo 10.

Sinabi ni Nancy Ibuna,  head ng External Relations ng Mount Apo Business Unit ng EDC, kabilang sa mga endangered species na payayabungin nila para ma-preserba ay ang puno ng Yakal na isang klase ng hardwood.

Kasama na ang Hisok-Hisok, Manga sa Buhi, Yakal Basilan, Kamagong, Narra, at iba pa.

Maliban pa rito, abot pa sa 96 na mga critically endangered species ang nasa arboretum, ayon pa kay Ibuna.

Sa susunod na taon, abot naman sa limampung mga endangered hardwood species ang itatanim sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng Mindanao. (Rhoderick Beñez, Malu Cadeliña-Manar)
