ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 8, 2013) – Various groups, mostly students, were going around and conducting surveys and collecting voters’ information in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
The groups conduct its house to house survey and were asking names of voters or whether they know how to cast their votes using the Precinct Count Optical Scan machines. Others were asking where or what village they vote during elections.
The surveyors have no identification cards, but they go in a group of three and sometimes five. Some of them said they are volunteers working for the Commission on Elections while others claimed they are summer workers.
Some of the groups apparently had no coordination with each other because they would often go to the same place which had been surveyed already by their own.
And this cast doubts among family members and feared the personal information they collected would be used to cheat in the May 13 elections. Some of the neighborhoods even drove the students away. (Mindanao Examiner)
