
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police in the southern Philippines continue to investigate the murder of two Swiss nationals in Misamis Oriental province in northern Mindanao region.
Two gunmen shot Robert Erick Loever, 67, and Baltazar Johann Erni, 78, at Yasay Beach Resort in the town of Opol over the weekend. The foreigners were together with two Filipina women Teresita Virtudazo and Rowelyn Jane Odchigue when gunmen attacked them.
Police said the resort had no surveillance cameras and that investigators have interviewed several people, including the two women, one them was a girlfriend of the victim.
One man, who was at the resort at the time of the attack, said he saw the two men running as if they were quarreling, but suddenly they stopped near the foreigners and without warning opened fire at the duo, and then fled.
The Swiss nationals were said to be staying in Cagayan de Oro, but the motive of the killings remains unknown. (Mindanao Examiner)
