CEBU – Over 9,000 people with disabilities here are expected to receive financial aid from Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama as part of the program of the local government to help them.

The local government will provide P5,000 cash aid to some 9,268 PWDs in 80 villages in north and south districts in Cebu City for one year.

Dr. Ester Concha, head of the city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services, said the distribution will be conducted by their disbursing officers and the City Treasurer’s Office in barangay sports complex or gymnasiums, barangay halls or any convenient place in the barangay.

Concha said they will also give the aid personally to those who are bedridden since they cannot go out and get the money. She said PWDs will have to present their identification card for them to claim their financial assistance.

“Pasalamat gyod mi sa city government hilabina kang Mayor Rama kay nakadawat nami ug hinabang ug naa nami ikapalit ug tambal ug bugas,” said 52-year old blind Maria Regner, one of the beneficiaries of the program, who received her share of the aid. (Greggy Jiggs Senados)
