Commies attack Bukidnon army patrol base

CAGAYAN DEO ORO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 17, 2012) – Communist insurgents attacked Tuesday a military patrol base in the southern Philippinesand wounding a pro-government militia, officials said.


Officials said about two dozen New People’s Army rebels opened fire on the base in the village of Kalabugao in Bukidnon’s Impasugong town. The base is under the 23rd Infantry Battalion.  
The attack sparked a gun battle, but it was not immediately known if there were enemy casualties.


The NPA is fighting for the establishment of a Maoist state in the country the past several decades now. (Mindanao Examiner)
