Earthquake victims thank Zamboanga for donations

Chief Editor November 8, 2019

VICTIMS OF THE recent earthquake in North Cotabato and Davao del Sur province have thanked the local government of Zamboanga City and its people for their donations of relief goods.

Mayor Beng Climaco led the supervision of the loading of relief goods on a Coast Guard vessel which delivered them to Davao City and distributed to the earthquake victims. The donations included rice, sardines, bottled water, coffee, corned beef, blankets, mosquito nets and cooking utensils, among other items.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) chaired by Climaco approved the resolution commiserating with families displaced by the series of tremors last month.

The CDRRMC approved the allocation of some P5 million for the purchase of relief goods.

Climaco said the relief assistance was in response to the appeals made by local governments and residents of North Cotabato and Davao del Sur. She also offered prayers to the earthquake victims and families of those who perished in the disaster. The mayor also commended all those who contributed and supported the Zamboanga humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims. (Zamboanga Post)
