Journalist, dedo sa road crash

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Patay ang isang correspondent ng pahayagang Mindanao Examiner regional newspaper at The Manila Times matapos na masangkot sa aksidente sa highway ng bayan ng Matalam sa North Cotabato dakong alas-5:35 Lunes ng hapon.

Kinilala ang biktima na si Mohammad “Moh” Saaduddin, 33-anyos, at manugang naman ni Ali Macabalang, senior correspondent ng Manila Bulletin.

Sa kanyang Facebook account, sinabi ni Macabalang na nag-cover ang kanyang manugang  sa Kanduli ng angkan ng Mangudadatu at Sinsuat sa Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Center sa loob ng ARMM compound sa Cotabato City.

Pauwi na umano ang si Moh sakay ng kanyang motorsiklo ng sumalpok ito sa isang 10-wheeler truck sa harap ng bahay ni Poblacion Kapitan Ariel Valdevieso. Ang truck ay minamaneho ni Renald Lubat Ramos, 36, at residente ng Barangay Kilada sa Matalam.

Sa inisyal na imbestigasiyon, binabaybay ng truck ang highway mula Kabacan patungo ng Matalam at pagdating sa Rotunda-Matalam ay nag-malfunction umano ang break nito. Nakasunod naman sa likurang bahagi ng truck si Moh dahilan para sumalpok ito.

Dahil sa lakas ng impact, napuruhan sa ulo ang biktima na naging sanhi ng agaran nitong kamatayan.Agad namang kinuha ni Macabalang ang bangkay ng biktima at isinailalim sa cleansing bilang bahagi ng tradisyung Islam.

Patuloy namang iniimbestigahan ng pulisya ang pangyayari. Bumuhos naman ang pakikiramay sa social media, partikular sa Facebook hinggil sa sinapit ng mamamahayag. (Rhoderick Beñez)
