ZAMBOANGA CITY – A man was killed after a gunman shot him outside a Jollibee branch in Zamboanga City at dawn Sunday, police said.
Police said the victim, Al-Rasder Aidal, was about to enter the restaurant along Veterans Avenue when the gunman attacked him. Aidal, 22, was with his cousin Isaac Muksan when the duo decided to buy food. Police did not say if Muksan was injured or safe from the shooting.
Forensic investigators recovered 4 bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol. It was not immediately known why the security guard failed to prevent the attack or arrest the gunman.
Killings and gun attacks in Zamboanga are not uncommon, especially at night or before sunrise where there are less police patrol. Village watchmen also do not regularly patrol. (Mindanao Examiner)
