ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / May 9, 2013) – A 22-year old Muslim man who was accused of carrying an illicit affair with his uncle’s wife was shot and killed in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, police said on Thursday.
It said the victim was killed by his own uncle when they incidentally met at a clan gathering in the village of Cawit.
Police said the attacker previously confronted his nephew about his alleged affair with his own aunt. The clan initially settled the matter following a series of negotiations by family leaders until the shooting occurred.
Both families of the victim and the assailant have not issued any statement about the killing. Police said the attacker remains at large and it was not immediately known whether the victim’s family would file criminal charges against the clan member. (Mindanao Examiner)
