OPINION: Pencing by Jun Feliciano

Editor November 27, 2013
Zamboanga City going cariton?

THE WORD: “THE TRUTH HURTS, BUT ONCE YOU ACCEPT THE TRUTH, THE HURT WILL JUST DISAPPEAR.”

OUR local leaders should better be extra vigilant on its supposed P3.9 billion rehab funds pledged by P-NOY himself for the supposed massive rehabilitation of “ground zero” thoroughly devastated by the nearly month-long bloody siege inflicted by the invading MNLF-Misuari armed faction in September.

WHY am I saying this? Well, it appears we’re slow, apathetic and sluggish — worse, it looks like we have no sure good link to Malacañang where traditionally our politics still plays its key role to lobby its needed favors for the hasty release of these huge financial pledges aimed for the rehab of all these calamity-stricken areas this year.

If so geek and unhurried, then such a snail-pacing will allow others to easily snatch from us those funds, and they’ll wily realign them — notwithstanding these are already sure pledges offered for the said purpose.

IT’s also a known fact that these political bigwigs from Luzon and the Visayas are almost always dominating us in the scrimmage for all these needed funds—especially so, in the light of all these huge calamities plaguing our country at present.

Areas known hit hardest by the recent super typhoon (Yolanda) — the strongest ever recorded in man’s memory, are currently in dire need for more financial aid for their own massive rehabs, as well.

FROM tricycle to sikat-sikat, then to cariton!

THUS, came the lament from our local cynics here.

“Quiere decir, Pencing going not only backward, but grimly going to the dogs!
Ambooooytt!

DISTRICT 2 Councilor Kim Elago spent backbreaking time in Metro Manila, as he personally sought the DILG legal opinion on his proposed measure for all our licensed gun-owners/holders to enable carrying their firearms outside their residences sans any fear of being arrested.

“THIS will seek the cure of the (then Pres. Fidel) Ramos’ national ID system proposal that was declared as unconstitutional by the SC then,” the Tetuan city policy-making body member hinted.

HE said such a contentious area in the Ramos failed move can now be corrected under his current proposal with an emphasis for its avoidance of being unconstitutional.

“All the data and information cannot be released and/or granted unless ordered by the court and/or equipped with a written authority from the person and/or individual concerned.

This is its bone of contention that we need to cure its said illegality,” the lawyer- city legislator argued.
