Passengers hurt in Zamboanga road collision

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Jan. 24, 2014) – About a dozen people were hurt after a passenger bus and a commuter jeep collided Friday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines, police said.

Police said the impact of the collision almost split the jeep in two and both drivers were among those hurt in the accident which occurred along the Zamboanga highway.

Both drivers accused each other of failing to observe traffic rules. The driver of the jeep said he was slowing down to safely turn on the other lane when the bus came crashing into the side of his vehicle.

But the bus driver told traffic policemen that the jeep suddenly turned to the other lane without signalling that caused the collision.

Police are investigating both drivers. (Mindanao Examiner)
