ZAMBOANGA CITY – Philippine authorities arrested a Russian man who illegally entered the southern port city of Zamboanga from Sabah in Malaysia.
Insp. Dahlan Samuddin, a regional police spokesman, said the 24-year old Paviel Bukacel Prokhorenkov was arrested after he was spotted wandering on a highway in Guiwan village.
The foreigner said he was supposed to meet his 19-year old Filipina girlfriend Gretchen Baliquig Juevesano, a native of Tubod town in the province of Lanao del Norte. Prokhorenkov said he arrived by boat here from Sandakan City in Sabah and was planning to marry the Filipina.
It was not immediately known if the woman knew Prokhorenkov is coming to Zamboanga.
Samuddin said the Russian man would be deported to Sabah after being booked by immigration officials for illegally entering Zamboanga. (Mindanao Examiner)
