
DIPOLOG CITY (Mindanao Examiner / July 25, 2013) – An unidentified gunman shot and wounded a village chieftain in Zamboanga del Norte province in southern Philippines, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca said Asbi Edding Bercasio, village chieftain of Dinolan in Sibuco town, was shot while driving his motorcycle with wife and a two-year old daughter in the village of Puliran.
He said the gunman escaped after the shooting. “The victim sustained gunshot wound in his right thigh and was rushed to Zamboanga City for medical treatment,” Huesca said.
Bercasio’s family was not hurt in the attack.
Huesca said the police are investigating the motive of the attack and who was behind it. (Mindanao Examiner)
