Sultan Kudarat river is likely source of electricity

SULTAN KUDARAT (Mindanao Examiner / Mar. 17, 2014) – Had the proposed hydroelectric power plant in Sultan Kudarat pushed through, it could have provided additional electricity in the province or perhaps in nearby areas.

According to Community and Environment Officer Jerry Dalauta, there was a proposal in 2007 to tap and develop the Kabulnan River into a hydroelectric plant and generate power, but there were apprehension that it could affect or flood the villages of Masiag, Kabulnan, Lagandang and Sinagandal.

Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Suharto Mangudadatu said the project is a good alternative to the power woes in Mindanao and would support it should it be revived again as long as it would not compromise the safety of locals and the protection of the environment to which he is strongly advocating.
