DPWH-ARMM signs accord with Maguindanao LGUs on project implementation

Chief Editor March 1, 2018

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-ARMM) signed a Memorandum of Agreement with 16 municipal governments in Maguindanao province on the implementation of the 2018 Regular Infra-Projects.

ARMM Governor Mujiv Hataman witnessed the signing ceremony held here recently and among the signatories were DPWH-ARMM Secretary Don Mustapha Loong and municipal mayors. The infrastructure projects have a total budget of about P1.4 billion for the two engineering districts of the province. District 1 has an allocation of P380.21 million while District 2 has P1,022.57 million.

The 16 municipal government that will benefit from the projects are Parang, Buldon, Upi, Barira, Matanog, Pagalungan, Mamasapano, Datu Paglas, Rajah Buayan, Datu Abdullah Sangki, Shariff Aguak, Pandag, Ampatuan, General Salipada Pendatun, Talayan and Buluan. These municipalities are also recipients of the Seal of Good Local Governance Award  (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, which is one of the qualifications infra-projects could be entrusted to a beneficiary.

Secretary Loong said local governments play an important role in the successful implementation of infra-projects, especially those that are experienced, equipped, with capacity to implement multimillion-peso projects, and are SGLG awardees.

He said this is just one of the steps the ARMM government, through the DPWH, is taking to meet President Rodrigo Duterte’s target that all infra-projects for the year 2018 should be implemented efficiently. The projects will start implementation as soon as all the pertinent documents are finalized and submitted.

Governor Hataman urged the municipal governments and the two district engineering offices to ensure the efficient implementation of the projects. The governor believes these projects would be completed on time since one way to speed up project implementation and ensuring these are within standards is through a joint agreement with beneficiaries.
