COTABATO CITY – Some P96,000 have been raised by the Notre Dame University of Cotabato City in a love drive dubbed “Piso-Piso Campaign for Marawi” in an effort to help those who are in dire need, especially the victims of last year’s deadly siege.
The one-hour campaign was conducted recently by the faculty and staffs, including administrators and students. They also appealed to others to help in the campaign by donating to the victims of the war, many of who are still homeless.
Militants linked to the Islamic State occupied Marawi City in Lanao del Sur province in May 2017 and battled security forces for five months until their defeat.
But the war brought devastation and deaths, and hunger with many homes and structures destroyed by the battle. President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to construct houses for war victims and rehabilitation of the city is on-going. (Amyrra Chielzy Rahmani)
