PAGADIAN CITY – Two motorcycle gunmen shot dead a municipal councilman in an attack in Pagadian City in the southern Filipino province of Zamboanga del Sur, police said on Sunday.
It said the 38-year old Momar Dris was about to drive his car when the gunmen arrived and shot him. The attack occurred at dawn Saturday, police said, but the motive of the killings remains unclear.
Police said Dris was a councilman in the town called Dimataling, also in Zamboanga del Sur and that an investigation into the murder was launched to unmask the identities of the killers.
It was unknown whether the killing was related to the politician’s job or not. Gun attacks in Pagadian are not uncommon. (Mindanao Examiner)
